Kuznetsova’s New Look

Sveta’s new doo

Svetlana Kuznetsova is not one to be shy about her looks, and she’s created a dramatic new one for this year at Wimbledon.

I spotted Sveta on the grounds today sporting a long blonde braided weave.

Yep. You read that right: A long blond braided weave.

As a matter of fact, I almost didn’t recognize her at first, but maybe that’s the point. It’s a totally new look on her, and is probably the direct opposite of what she did earlier in the year with the black as night goth hairdo she had at (was it?) Indian Wells.

She did look pretty good with it, and it’s definitely dramatic. Not unlike a back-up singer for Justin Timberlake dramatic.

Cheers to you SK, for shaking it up. You’re definitely not boring.

I would never steer you wrong… except for when I do.

But I assure you its unintentional. :)

I’m curious: What does the barbarian American fan do during rain delays?

I don’t know any barbarians, but most of the fans I’ve seen head for shelter. Some tough it out on the courts trying to hold onto their seat.

Tennis historian that I am, I spent some qt in the museum yesterday (Saturday) during the never-ending rain delays, which was awesome. Fortunate for me, I popped in just after the resumption of play, which as we know only lasted about 1 hr so I had the place to myself and got some extra-special treatment from the staff.

UNfortunate for me, play was halted again just as I began to ascend the stairs back to the gift shop — which was in no time packed to capacity.

I’ll be home in a few days, so wind up the rest of your questions, if any, and I’ll give it a go, as the Brits say. :)

More hard hitting stuff:

Did you get to see Morigami’s outfit in person?

Who was in Mauresmo’s box? I mean, who was invited to sit in the section for Mauresmo’s entourage?

What color is your umbrella?

Oh, found a picture of Kuzy’s new weave here: http://tinyurl.com/2vg6f4

And her press conference on July 3 included some gems about how people are reacting to her hair. Including “advices” from the sisters Williams.

1) Yes. Very cute. As was Tatiana’s, despite the fact that you didn’t get to see much of it.
2) Unclear. I didn’t go out to watch any of her matches. I did see her partner around though.
3) Um, purple and green. I got the classic Wimbledon brolly. I’m actually home now, and was relieved that it didn’t get stolen out of the baggage check! :)
4) I have a whole new appreciation for her due to her unsurpassed commitment to the coiffe. (insert worship emoticon here)

It’s not that new–she had blonde braids right after she won the US Open in 2004–go look it up. I know this is not the first time she has had this look. Though I hope it will be the last–please, Sveta, there’s a reason Venus and Serena don’t wear braids any more!
